Matt Sowersby is a music educator, freelance guitarist, and singer-songwriter who has been working professionally in music for over 10 years. Matt started taking guitar lessons at 9 years old and went on to study classical guitar with Richard Schilling at UMass Lowell. In 2013, he earned bachelor’s degrees in Music Performance and Music Business, graduating with departmental honors.

Matt completed his master’s degree in Music Education at UMass Lowell in 2016 and teaches K-12 music at the Central Massachusetts Collaborative in Worcester. He also runs a private lesson studio and performs regularly for private events and with his own music. A skilled multi-instrumentalist and songwriter, Matt’s recordings often combine varied sonic textures, incorporating vocal, acoustic, and electronic elements to create a textured, dynamic sound. His original music can be found streaming on Spotify under the moniker Mowesby.

Matt currently resides in Leominster, MA, with his wife and two cats, Simon and Garfunkel. In addition to music, Matt also enjoys woodworking, outdoor cooking, and gardening.
